Job Description

Job Purpose:
As Team head to Plan, Organize, Coordinate and Control procurement activities for casting and forgings,stainless steel, and other heavy equipments for the Engineering Unit.
To ensure steady and timely supply of materials at competitive rates exercising optimum inventory control.
To ensure purchasing activity on time and co-ordinate with Vendors as per the requirement of projects.
To manage and enhance the purchasing activities.

Key Result Areas :
Sound exposure in procurement of Mechanical & Electrical packages and Equipments for power plants, Heavy Fabricated items and Structures, Key Commodities like Forgings, Castings, Steel Plates and Bought-Outs.

Well versed with various international codes and standards in respect of the heavy engineering industry including ANSI, ASME, SMACNA, API codes, ISO and HSE procedures.
Good Exposure in Import and Export formalities, Letter of credit transactions and Inco terms.
Experience in Procurement, Expediting, Vendor development & management, Supply Chain Operations, Transportation Systems
Demand planning, forecasting, fulfilment, inventory management.
Good Knowledge in supplier capabilities & Market conditions.

Key Responsibilities :

Conversant in Floating Enquiry, Evaluation & Finalising Offer.
Conversant with Commercial Terms, Conditions & Procedures.
Conversant in preparing of Rate contracts with suppliers & sub contractors.
Abilities in ensuring optimum inventory levels to achieve maximum cost savings with minimum holding of stock; maintaining storage areas and arranging infrastructure to ensure smooth flow of operations.
Identify upcoming projects, business potential & target potential clients, Establish contact with decision makers and influencer of potential clients.
To undertake all procurement related activities of:- Issuing RFQs, Receipt of Bids/Quotes, Co-ordination with Engineering, Vendors, Quality and other departments, Contract Negotiation, Commercial evaluations, PO/Contract award & administration, Periodical review and timely close-out of purchase orders.

Knowledge in vendors rating / Evaluation / Development and Exploring alternate markets / alternate supplier.
Regulate quantities & deliveries in consultation with user departments on day to day basis.
Review vendor rating of existing & identification of new vendors for quality cost and delivery improvements.
Conversant with raw materials procurement like stainless steels, pipes, plates, Structural, Flash Vessels as per ASME, Fasteners, castings and forgings , fabrication items, heavy machinery equipments, Drum and Disk Filters, Cement Mill equipments.
Co-ordinating with QC, Design, & Project Management for smooth flow of project.

Knowledge in procurement of :
Carbon, Alloy, Stainless and duplex plates. Heavy forgings, Flange forgings, Tubes and Pipes.
Motors, Gear Boxes, Bearings and other BOI required for projects.
Plate bending machine, welding & grinding machines, Furnaces, SPM.

Work Experience :
12 to 15 years in procurement activity, minimum 5 years of experience in handling purchase department in heavy Engineering Unit.

Suitable candidates with relevant heavy engineering experience from Chennai location alone apply.
